SU8/DL8YHR (KM50 ). Frank, DL8YHR, need to cancel the announced operation from 3V due to the reason that he not received the documents for 50 MHz operation up to now. Instead Frank will try to be QRV from SU from 27th of June +/- 2 days for around 5-6 days... (Info from MMM on VHF) |

JW5E (JQ78) PE1L and PA0ZH are activating
JW Svalbard - locator JQ78tf - from June 5th to June 9th 2008 on 144 MHz
EME. The call at 144 MHz will be JW5E.
Rig is 2 x 20 xpol dj9bv opt2, TS-2000, gasfet preamp and 2 x GI7B amplifier. We will TX and RX at 144.110 MHz, for JA we will TX and RX 144.082 (others can call us there as well) If all is OK we have internet over there and we will announce if we change from 144.110 to 144.082. Last year PE1L was active as PJ4EME and made 273 qsos (no dupes counted). Based on that experience a few things. - Call us when you can receive us. - Dont stop calling while we are in qso, if we see another station calling during a qso we will skip 73s and will call the next station after we received 73s. - We start building the station 2 june so its possible we are qrv before 5 june (condx are not looking good before 5 june but maybe we can qso some bigger stations so we have more free time during the weekend with UFB condx). - We try to be so much qrv as possible, remember we have 24 hrs moon a day (and sun so who needs sleep?). - After 6 june we will have limited VK-ZL window so VK-ZL pse call us 5 and 6 june. We have a website at http://www.emelogger.com/svalbard and we try to give actual information, complete qso's, logssearch and other details. You can find the present JW firstlist at http://www.la8aja.com/vhf/jwfirsts_2m.php still a lot firsts can be made! We are there till 15 june so stations at MS distance can ask us for FSK441 (our take off will be bad so we need to elevate and it looks like 1700km is max) In spare and rest time ... PA0ZH will also be QRV on HF bands in SSB for those who need JW, call will be JW/PA0ZH. JW/PE1L will be qrv 6 meter and PSK on HF bands. We look forward to working as many as possible from Svalbard...cu in a few weeks. (Info from Rene PE1L and Bouke PA0ZH) |

ZB operation cancelled, but plans for GJ or
GU. Sadly Frank and I have to inform you that our planned ZB
dxpedition end of this month is now cancelled.
Why? There are changes in reciprocal licensing in ZB land effective as of July 2007 (oh how we were lucky that we went there in April 2007). The main changes are that there is NO HF reciprocal license granted any more and that on 2m and 6m the maximum radiated power is limited to 100 watts ERP (!). Use of linear amps is forbidden altogether. When applying for a "high power permit" with the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority GRA, they wrote us that they can't do so for the reasons quoted above but since the new rules "were decided in close consultation with the Gibraltar Radio Amateur Society GRAS" we were advised to appeal to them (GRAS) and they (GRA) would then wait on their decision taken. So we did appeal to them by letter, by email and by fax and we did not receive any response from them. As we already incurred costs for our hotels during the the transfer to ZB, we now had to cancel this activity to comply with our Gibraltar hotel's cancellation policy. We are very sorry for this because we have been looking very much forward to this dxpedition (in fact, also hoping for some sporadic E openings) but there was no choice. Should the GARS position change we will be the first to conduct a dxpedition to ZB land. Now we plan for activating GJ (1st priority) or GU (2nd priority) via 2m EME in October 2008, most probably around the 19th. (Info from Frank DH7FB & Bernd DF2ZC) |

T61AA (MM57GC) from Afghanistan. Not quite a dxpedition but a big surprise: Ross, T61AA, who works in Faizerabad, is assembling a 2m EME station. Currently he is running 500 watts to two 8 elements yagis but the RIG might grow yet. Ross will probably stay in Afghanistan for about two years so many fellow EME stations should ample opportunity to work him within that period. However, one must not forget: Ross can only be QRV outside his working hours – this is no dxpedition. (Info from DF2ZC's EME newsletter) |

DL1YMK/CX 2008 Moonbounce DXpedition to
Uruguay (GF15WJ)
Hi Gang, just to let you know that everything is settled now for this year's EME DXpedition. Monika & myself will be operating from the 1st of May to the 12th of May from Uruguay using the callsign DL1YMK/CX, as licensed by the Uruguayan telecom authority URSEC. We have been struggling for nearly a year to get a fully legal high power permit for operating from CX on 70 cm, 23 cm and 13 cm moonbounce. As to our knowledge, CX has never been on the moon on these bands so far. The DXpedition only became feasable by the extremely constructive and effective help of two local hams, which is even more appreciated by us knowing the 'normal' power limit to be 50W on UHF & up. To make things even more complicated, on 13cm there is no regular ham radio frequency allocation in CX to be congruent with IARU-regions 1 & 2, but by courtesy of URSEC we got a unique permit to transmit on 2320 and on 2304 MHz. Unfortunately, URSEC refused a 9 cm operation because of mobile communication service, though. Our stay timewise covers the European WW EME-contest (10th/11th of May), as well as an ATP on 70 cm (4th of May), so we will try to be on those bands in time, conditions permitting, of course.....so keep your fingers crossed. For those interested a sked list will be handled again by Joe, K1RQG, as he kindly did for us in previous year's DXpeditions. I will provide a time frame to Joe within next week, indicating the planned slots of activation for each band. Please keep in mind that CX-land is at 30 degr South, so Mother Nature will confine our moon window to a certain extent (which is good for our touristic activities, hi). Hope that everything proceeds smoothly (still some problems to master with rig airlift...), so we can work many of you from CX. Hi gang, these are the preliminary operation activities planned during our CX-DXpedition. Please keep in mind that our moon window is confined due to Southern latitude - and weather permitting... 30.4. ev. qrv 23 cm, not sure Hope to work many of you from CX. For skeds please write to K1RQG. (Info from MMM on VHF) |
